What was your application process like at Schulmeister?
I was contacted directly by Schulmeister. During the interview, I said that I was toying with the idea of going into consulting because I wanted more customer contact and wanted to move away from a traditional career in finance. We then discussed the option of starting internally at Schulmeister as a site manager and managing director. It went very quickly from the idea to the actual signing of the employment contract - it was the perfect match for both sides.
Why did you choose this job?
I'm a controller at heart, but very extroverted. I love talking to clients about search projects, especially about the requirements for the positions. When I help candidates find a fulfilling job - simply unique. I particularly enjoy searching for the perfect candidate. In my role as Managing Director, it is very important to me to motivate, support and lead my team to success. I have a lot of creative freedom, which I really enjoy. To be happy, I need the broadest possible range of tasks, which my job offers me more than enough.
What does your typical working day at Schulmeister look like?
Typically, I am the interface between companies and applicants. I conduct classic interviews with applicants, both online and in person at our office, as well as needs-based interviews with companies, usually on site. Special highlights are job interviews together with the applicants at the client's premises, where I usually take over the moderation of the interviews. We maintain very close contact with our candidates, which is why we regularly ask them what the current professional status quo is.
My tasks also include answering customer inquiries, keeping up to date with “new” jobs (ESG, AI, etc.) and monitoring current trends in HR.
What is the great thing about your job?
The human contact, being able to accompany candidates throughout their entire career and gaining exciting insights into companies. The optimal placement is always the goal and therefore incredibly fulfilling when the time comes.
What challenges does your job entail?
You have to develop a feel for who fits into the client's team. It's not always just about hard skills, but also a lot about soft skills. Of course, I try to find this out during the interview, but depending on the applicant's personality, it's not always easy.
What makes your team special?
I can rely 100% on my team, we all pull in the same direction and the humor doesn't fall by the wayside either. I was also surprised at the beginning at how actively and well the exchange with other locations is practiced. And we also have an open exchange at management level as equals.
