What was your application process like at Schulmeister?
After graduating from WU Vienna in 2006, I was contacted by the university's Center for Career Planning, where I had registered as a job seeker. At the time, a small recruitment company was looking for a recruiter. Without knowing much about the company beforehand, I went to an interview and walked into Schulmeister's office for the first time that day! After two personal interviews with the managing directors at the time, I was accepted and - 15 years later - I am still part of the team.
Why did you choose this job?
I always knew that I needed a job with a lot of communication and interaction with people in order to enjoy my work. That's why I specialized in HR management at university.
In HR consulting, the focus is also on the service aspect. This combination - working with people and being a “consultant” - makes this job perfect for me.
What does your typical working day at Schulmeister look like?
Basically, a search process in personnel consulting is always structured in the same way: Commissioned by a company to search for a specific position, detailed profile discussion, design of a job advertisement, screening of applications, research of suitable profiles in the database and on social media, conducting interviews, presentation of suitable candidates, support of the companies throughout the entire process up to the personnel decision. This means that, depending on the status of a project, my day-to-day work is very varied! I have customer contact, conduct job interviews, write an advertisement in between, contact applicants and introduce them to new jobs and ideally I can also look forward to a successful placement on one day or another :)
What is the great thing about your job?
I simply enjoy helping people to find the right job and at the same time helping companies to choose the right employee. It's incredibly nice when the result of your work is so visible and also meaningful. And when you also receive positive feedback and a “thank you for your support”, it's even more rewarding!
What challenges does your job entail?
I've been working in HR consulting for a very long time and have experienced quite a few challenges ;)
However, I think the biggest challenge in our profession is a certain tolerance for frustration, which you have to develop and endure when you work with people in the project business. The goal in a project is of course always to fill a position as quickly and as well as possible. It can always happen that you are close to the long-awaited goal, a position seems to be as good as filled and at the last moment the candidate does not accept an offer and withdraws the application or perhaps no deal is reached for other reasons. Then it's back to square one and the search process starts all over again. It always takes a great deal of motivation and enjoyment of the job to get started again at 100%.
What makes your team special?
We are quite a young team and have good team spirit across all Schulmeister locations in Austria. We achieve a lot in our day-to-day work, we keep the quality of our work high together and support each other in project management. In return, we can be very relaxed as a team at company parties and we all have a very friendly approach to each other, which is very important to me in a company.
Why is Schulmeister the right employer for you?
Schulmeister stands for personnel consulting at a very high quality level with a specialized focus on specialists in finance and accounting. I deal with very interesting and highly specialized people on a daily basis, both on the client and candidate side, and I learn something new every day. I like the fact that I can work very independently and flexibly in project management, both in terms of time and my approach to a project. These aspects and the appreciative and open interaction within the team and with the management make Schulmeister the right employer for me.
