IT Manager at Schulmeister

What was your application process like at Schulmeister?

At the time of my application, I was actually working in the real estate sector. My application was therefore not directly for Schulmeister, but for a position at a property management company. During the interview, however, everything turned out quite differently and I started directly at Schulmeister. My entry-level position was already very broadly based. On the one hand, I was responsible for the administration of the database, and on the other, I supported the sales team. Later in my career, more and more IT tasks were transferred to me. I am currently responsible for IT management for all locations.

Why did you choose this job?

The broad range of tasks and the new challenges were definitely the main reasons for my job change. I was also very attracted to the SME environment.

What does your typical working day at Schulmeister look like?

As an IT manager, I have a wide range of responsibilities. My daily tasks vary greatly, as no two days are the same. My tasks range from designing and implementing IT projects, to topics such as data security and data protection, to working with all our outsourcing partners. In addition, 1st level requests often land on my desk. In addition to the technical side, we also have to ensure that our IT processes meet the company's requirements and run efficiently. This also includes optimizing workflows to achieve higher productivity and efficiency. To this end, I work closely with our HR consultants. In many cases, I also act as a mediator or translator between our operations department and the IT specialists.

What's great about your job?

There are many reasons why my job is fulfilling. For example, as an IT manager, I am constantly confronted with new challenges. There are always new technologies that need to be mastered, complex IT systems that need to be maintained and new projects that need to be implemented. This means that you make an important contribution to achieving the company's goals and have a certain influence on business development.

What challenges does your job entail?

The IT industry is constantly evolving and new technologies are introduced quickly. As an IT manager, you need to keep up to date with these developments. IT systems can be very complex and it can be difficult to identify and resolve problems. As an IT manager, you have to be prepared for this complexity, because in many cases, solving one problem means that a new one arises. In addition, threats to IT security are constantly on the rise. These threats must be countered both technologically and through employee awareness training.

What makes your team special?

An important component of our company is that all employees have the opportunity to contribute their own ideas and suggestions and thus help shape individual team decisions. We also promote a sense of community and enjoy working together through regular company outings and joint activities.

Why does Schulmeister suit you as an employer?

I like to immerse myself in a wide variety of IT projects and use my different skills. It is also important to me to be able to take on responsibility and play an active role in projects. My job at Schulmeister offers me all these opportunities, which I really appreciate.
