Working for Schulmeister, Personnel Consultant Linz

What was your application process like at Schulmeister?

I came across the position advertised at Schulmeister on the Internet and applied for it. As a next step, I was invited to an initial interview, which was held directly with the management. It was an exciting, detailed interview in which I felt that I was taken seriously. The basis of the conversation was pleasant and I was given a good insight into the company and the area of responsibility. A second round followed, also with the management, and fortunately I was accepted.

Why did you choose this job?

It was clearly the challenge I wanted to take on. Before my current position at Schulmeister, I worked in recruiting at an industrial company. The interface function between customers and candidates was new to me and appealed to me. I was also impressed by the collaboration with various well-known companies. I also wanted to focus on one area, namely finance, because of my previous business training and build up my expertise in this area. I also found the size of the Schulmeister team in Linz interesting. When I started, we were around 6 employees and we have grown steadily.

What does your typical working day at Schulmeister look like?

There’s no such thing as a routine day in our work, as we are constantly confronted with various inquiries from clients and candidates and spontaneous interviews, which makes this job particularly exciting.

First, however, I check my calendar for upcoming client and candidate appointments, and then I sift through the new applications. Usually, the first candidate interviews are already waiting for us in the morning, for which I prepare myself. In addition, there are several customer appointments and requirement meetings for the respective employee searches every week. Our daily schedule is filled with the entire organization and operational handling of each individual search project. We consultants write the advertisements, screen the applicants, conduct direct written and telephone interviews, conduct the interviews, prepare the application documents including detailed candidate reports and maintain regular contact with clients and candidates. We also receive support from our research assistants in our active candidate searches and approaches.

What's great about your job?

As already mentioned, no two days are the same, which makes our job very varied. We get to know new and interesting candidates every day, hear a wide variety of stories and address the concerns of our customers and candidates. I love the independent way of working that we are given at Schulmeister and that you definitely need in this job. I appreciate the trust that the management places in us every day.

What challenges does your job entail?

Our core task: to create a match between clients and candidates.

Almost everyone has noticed recently that there are no longer applicants a dime a dozen. Especially in the financial sector, it can sometimes be quite a challenge to meet customer requirements 😉 Professional experience and the necessary training and further education are not everything. There should also be a personal match between the client and the candidate.

What makes your team special?

We have very open and honest communication and mutual trust within the team and with the management. I have the feeling that nobody has to put on airs and there is no lack of fun here. We in Linz are a small, manageable team with a flat hierarchy and extremely short decision-making paths.

Why does Schulmeister suit you as an employer?

Because I have the feeling that we think the same way. As simple as it sounds, we all pull together, we celebrate our successes together, we celebrate together and changes are allowed and welcome at Schulmeister. Appreciation was always at the top of my list when choosing an employer and I have definitely found that at Schulmeister.

In your opinion, what are the most important factors that make someone a recruitment consultant professional?

Empathy, strong communication skills, self-management and an appreciative and objective approach.

Do you have any tips for people who are interested in a recruitment consultant job?

Apply to Schulmeister 😉 We offer great development opportunities, even for students or school leavers. It's best to get a taste of what we do on a daily basis as early as possible. We would be happy to tell you more about our tasks, the challenges, joys and efforts of the job in a personal interview 😉
