What was your application process like at Schulmeister?
The application process at Schulmeister went really quickly. Just a few days after I applied, I had my first interview with the then-CEO of Schulmeister Technik. Shortly after that came the second interview on-site, where I also got to meet my future team—who were really warm and welcoming 😊. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly and smoothly everything went.
Why did you decide to take this job?
When I started at Schulmeister, I was still at university and wanted to learn as many aspects of HR as possible. I’d already gained experience in in-house human resources management. That’s why I was drawn to the opportunity to also explore the world of HR consulting.
What does your typical workday at Schulmeister look like?
Every day at Schulmeister is different, and priorities can change quickly throughout the day—but generally, I start the day by responding to emails and reviewing new applications. In the morning, I also conduct interviews with applicants, and of course, I spend plenty of time actively searching for suitable candidates for our clients’ projects.
What’s great about your job?
I’ve been at Schulmeister for over three years, and no two days are alike. I especially love that I’ve been able to continuously develop since my time as a team assistant and have been given more and more responsibility. I also really appreciate that, for about a year now, I’ve been able to actively help shape IT recruiting in addition to the engineering division. The independence and variety make my job particularly exciting.
What challenges does your job present?
Every search brings new challenges. That’s why it’s important to be open-minded and flexible. You also have to navigate the expectations of both clients and candidates, and it’s not always easy to strike that balance.
What makes your team at Schulmeister special?
We’re currently a small team, and I work closely with the management of the engineering and IT divisions, which gives me great insight into day-to-day operations and allows me to keep learning.
Why is Schulmeister a good fit for you as an employer?
What I really appreciate is the autonomy and the trust placed in me—that’s what makes Schulmeister the right employer for me.
What moment at Schulmeister stands out most in your memory?
What stands out most in my memory is my journey from team assistant to recruitment consultant. Seeing how far I’ve come over the past few years still makes me proud today. My first successfully filled recruitment assignment also remains vivid in my memory to this day.
What surprised you the most during your first few months?
Just how varied the work actually is—and, above all, how dynamic the recruitment consulting field is. Every day brings new topics, people, and challenges, and you realize that recruiting is so much more than just reading resumes. You also often have to react flexibly and adapt to new situations—but that’s exactly what makes the job so special.
What skill or trait is more important in your job than people on the outside might think?
It sounds cliché, but I’d say empathy. You can learn the technical requirements, but a good sense of people and their needs is crucial in recruiting.
